Mt. Pleasant and The Surrounding Area

   In 2006, Money Magazine rated Mount Pleasant, SC, as the 70^th best place to live and retire in the US. (read entire article) Mt. Pleasant is a thriving community that is growing at a controlled pace with current restrictions on new building permits. As the town continues to expand, this close-in waterfront property with Southern exposure becomes an even more desirable location. There is plenty to see and do in and around Mt. Pleasant and Charleston. Why be a tourist to the Charleston area when you can live here on deep water and enjoy the Low Country waterfront life all year. Places of interest include: beaches; cultural and arts events; sightseeing at the many preserved historic locations as well as a modern venue of attractions; fine dining; ample specialty shopping; professional and collegiate sports events; Colleges and Universities; County, state and National sites; as well as swimming, fishing, shrimping or boating from your own deep water dock. Having your own piece of waterfront property gives you ready access to the bountiful waterfront activities available in the Low Country. The Charleston Harbor and surrounding rivers and creeks are known for their yearly recreational harvest of shrimp, crabs and game fish available to the saltwater fishing enthusiast. Off-shore, the Gulf Stream comes close enough to the coastline to make big game fishing accessible to smaller size boats, as King Mackerel are routinely caught in the summer at the entrance to the harbor from 17’ boats. Medium size boats venture out to very deep water for Wahoo, Dolphin, Sailfish, Marlin and Grouper. A private deep water dock provides you with easy access to the water.  Besides swimming, fishing, crabbing and shrimping off your own dock, you now have access to all water activities.  You can cruise the Charleston Harbor to view the historic homes along the Battery; take a boat trip to an uninhabited barrier island beach to collect shells and sand dollars; or just relax and stay in tune with the coastal environment. Fort Sumter is just a short boat ride away. For a relaxing family outing, you might consider Water-skiing in the Wando River or a winding Creek, or just exploring the many salt marsh estuaries and islands from your boat, kayak or canoe. The mild winters make outdoor and water sport activities available year-round. We do have four distinct seasons in the Charleston area and it does get cold some times. However, the last time we got more than a few flakes of snow was Christmas Eve 1989 when we got 6 inches. Three days later the snow was gone except for the lonely snowman still sitting in our front yard….. If you are tired of extreme winter temperatures but Florida is too hot for your liking, Mt. Pleasant might just be the ideal place to live the good life. And there is no better place than living on the water close to town.

   This deep water home is in the subdivision of Hidden Cove, which is located on Hobcaw Creek in the town of Mount Pleasant, SC.  The subdivision has approximately 200 homes, and amenities includes one of the best boat landings in Charleston County, two tennis courts, a club house and a new community pool just completed in May 2008.  Mount Pleasant is a thriving community just across the river from Downtown Charleston and therefore, has many of the benefits of a small town as well as a larger  city.  This waterfront home is close to town and a short drive to everywhere.
